I'm not sure how many of you have heard of the "AV Boys" fox body, but this car has been kicking some ass with a great setup and driver mod. I also don't know many cars that can pull the wheels on the street.

Vs 911

Vs Corvette

Vs R35 GT-R

A fox body with a good engine is hard to beat in a straight line. They are just so light and cheap.

I don't think I believe some of the info in those videos, but it's still proper quick for a street car.

Yeah a lot of people speculate what it makes as far as power because it just flat out moves. But it does show why fox bodies are still very popular for 1/4 mile cars, way more popular than 3rd gen F bodies.

One day, one day I'd love to pick up an 86 GT, if I'm real lucky it'll have T tops

Ah yes, the main stream media scare

They are pretty much disposable. A guy down the street has run the same engine in over 5 chassis so far. Every time he ends up tweaking/breaking too much stuff he just grabs another one for dirt cheap off CL and does a parts transplant.

Fast little buggers. I just refuse to race him anywhere there aren't corners.

Media scare? So street racing hasn't caused deadly accidents?

Killing innocent people isn't cool. There's enough ways to die on the road without assholes street racing. We've got plenty of tracks around so-cal. No excuse for that kind of immature crap.

Thats why they are getting hard to find in clean shape, and clean ones actually fetch good money, because most of them have been hacked into 1/4 mile cars or just generally beat to shit.

As we all know, a stock fox chassis has the rigidity of string cheese

This is usually how the vicious circle goes

Track is built decades ago

around this time, housing projects are put all around track

residents complain about noise, track gets closed down

street racing ramps up, and shit like you posted happens

residents complain about street racing, and police ramp up patrols

news makes it out as a crime worse than murder or rape

and the cycle continues in a new location, until we are left with no tracks and a lot more street racing.

Theirs also a difference with two cars going at it in some early morning hour in an industrial park out in BFE, vs two cars going at it down a main highway in heavy traffic or through the middle of town. Is one more legal than the other? no, but no matter how many suburban moms complain, and how many media stories are run, street racing is not going away any time soon.

I work in industrial parks at night quite often. So do a lot of people that work night shifts. I often have to leave some unknown to me industrial development at 3 in the morning, and the last thing I need is to pull out and have a 90mph Mustang crest a hill and hit me. You're not ever alone, and you never have complete control. Even at a track you can't have complete control. Difference is, everybody there knows the racing is happening.

I know tracks close, and I agree it's bullshit when residents move in to an area and then complain. Doesn't make street racing ok. We have lots of places to go here in so-cal and people choose to street race because they think it's more exciting.

There's no acceptable reason to street race. Period. Take your excuses elsewhere.

I don't think I ever said its okay, but face reality, it happens, its happened, and it will keep happening.

I'm not going to live in a dream world where all street racers are in jail and we all drive autonomous electric powered cars.

I'd also never suggest watching street outlaws on discovery, since they, you know, kind of glorify street racing on national TV

You posted videos, basically saying 'Look at these cool guys!'

I have the same problem with Discovery's stupid staged show about street racing. It makes it seem cool to people. It makes it seem ok. I posted that not because I live in a fairy tale, but to make the point street racing is not cool, and it's not ok.

I think I see what you are getting at

so here is a video of a 03 cobra running from the florida highway patrol after doing 160+ MPH on the highway

If you are in a modded R35 GTR and they are giving you car lengths. You have already lost.
